Lyrics

- American Mud -

I’ve caught the sun and how my nose it peels, my ears they feel like toast
I’ve seen some people heard some funny talk and feel like I’ve crossed the moon
I’ve been down canyons and vallies on roads not ten feet wide
Then I’m strung out in Columbus bathing in it’s neon light

I threw the blankets from my tender frame and I went to get some air
I made some progress with a bloody Mary and then I reached for my map
A stranger tried to help me, he said “You’ve landed where the queers are”
I thanked him for his time and advice and headed to the Baghdad Cafe

Now don’t go drinking from broken glass
Or mix your dose if you want to last
It’s catching up and you’re getting tense
But it somehow makes sense

I made the Haight in time for Murio’s and drinks with American Mud
He talked at length, got onto politics and thanked God for the NRA
I opted to leave at this point and stumbled out to Golden Gate Park
I didn’t get too far on my way without someone panhandling me

Now don’t go drinking from broken glass
Or mix your dose if you want to last
It’s catching up and you’re getting tense
But it somehow makes sense
